How FileWalla Works

Three powerful features, each designed to keep your sensitive client data safe. Here's exactly how to use them.

⏱️ Takes about 2 minutes

🔐 How to Send a Secure File

Share sensitive documents with clients and colleagues — encrypted end-to-end, virus-scanned, and automatically shredded when you decide.

1

Log in to your FileWalla dashboard

Sign in at filewalla.ca with your email and password. If you have two-factor authentication enabled, enter your Google Authenticator code.

2

Click "Send File" and choose your document

Select the file from your computer. FileWalla automatically scans it for viruses using multi-tier scanning (ClamAV + phpMussel) before encrypting it with AES-256 encryption.

3

Choose your recipient

Select an existing FileWalla member, or enter an email address to share with a client via the Guest Portal. Non-members get a secure link — no account required.

4

Set expiry and send

Choose how long the file stays available (1 day to 30 days). After expiry, the file is automatically shredded — deleted permanently with no recovery possible. Your recipient gets a notification with a secure download link.

5

Track delivery in your dashboard

See when your file was downloaded, by whom, and verify the integrity checksum. Your full audit trail is preserved for compliance.

🛡️ AES-256 Encryption Military-grade encryption protects files at rest and in transit
🔬 Virus Scanning Dual-engine scanning catches threats before they reach recipients
⏰ Auto-Shred Files are permanently destroyed after your chosen expiry date
📋 Audit Trail Full download history with timestamps and integrity verification
⏱️ Takes about 1 minute

🔥 How to Send a Read & Burn Message

Send a self-destructing message or file to anyone — even non-members. The data shreds itself after viewing. No trace left behind.

1

Go to "Read & Burn" in your dashboard

Click the Read & Burn option from your FileWalla dashboard. This opens the secure ephemeral messaging tool.

2

Write your message and set a passphrase

Type your confidential message and create a mandatory passphrase. You can also attach a file. The passphrase is required — share it with your recipient by phone or text, never by email.

3

Set view limits and expiry

Choose how many times the message can be viewed (1–5 views) and how long it stays alive (1 hour to 7 days). After either limit is reached, the message self-destructs.

4

Share the secure link

FileWalla generates a unique one-time URL. Send this link to your recipient by email, text, or chat. They'll need the passphrase you set to unlock and read the message.

5

Message self-destructs automatically

Once the view limit is reached or the expiry time passes, the message and any attachments are permanently destroyed. There's no way to recover them — for you, your recipient, or anyone else.

🔑 Mandatory Passphrase Two-layer security — the link alone isn't enough
👁️ View Limits Control exactly how many times your message can be read
💣 Auto-Destruct Data shreds itself — no manual cleanup needed
🌐 No Account Needed Recipients don't need a FileWalla account to view
⏱️ Takes about 3 minutes

👥 How to Set Up Your Client Portal

Give your clients a secure two-way channel using Read & Burn — send them files and messages, and let them reply with their own. No account needed on their end.

1

Open "Read & Burn" in your dashboard

From your FileWalla dashboard, go to the Read & Burn section. This is where you create a secure, self-destructing message and send files to your client.

2

Compose your message and attach files

Enter your client's name and email, write your message, and attach any documents they need — up to 10GB. Everything is encrypted with AES-256 before it's stored.

3

Set a passphrase (or pick a suggested one)

Choose a passphrase to protect the message. Read & Burn even suggests strong passphrases that are easy to read aloud but hard to guess — just click one to use it.

4

Turn on guest reply access

Enable guest access so your client can reply with their own files and messages for up to 7 days using the same passphrase — no FileWalla account required. That gives you a secure two-way channel.

5

Share the passphrase by SMS or phone call

Send the secure link by email, but always share the passphrase separately — by text message or a quick phone call. Keeping the link and passphrase on two different channels is what keeps the exchange safe.

🔑 Suggested Passphrases One-click strong passphrases, easy to say aloud
🔄 Two-Way Replies Clients reply with files using the same passphrase
📱 Out-of-Band Passwords Share the passphrase by SMS or phone, never email
🔥 Self-Destructing Messages and files shred themselves automatically
⏱️ Takes about 5 minutes
